Meet Our Artists and Writers
We are a community of
women dedicated to living the gospel in today's world.
Founded in 1859 to meet the educational needs of the people in the
Allegany, New York area, we now serve along the East Coast of the United
States, as well as in Jamaica, Brazil and Bolivia. Currently we
minister in education, health care, social work, parish, retreat and
spiritual ministries, as well as caring for the poor, the homeless and the
environment.
Rose's background includes administrative work, pastoral and spiritual ministry and serving the financially disadvantaged and the homeless. Having been enamored with God's creation and the mystical most of her life, poetry and photography are ways in which her creativity, love of nature and the divine are expressed.

Eva has served as a teacher, school principal; an occupational therapist; director of the Mission Society and as member of the Ritiro community. Photography, poetry, and sewing have been big parts of her life for many years.

Sr. Bernadette Mary has spent years in education, administration and congregational leadership. She is currently secretary of St. Elizabeth Mission Society and is organist for the Motherhouse Eucharistic Liturgies

Pat serves at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Brant Beach, New Jersey. Her spare time is spent with a camera, capturing images that allow us to really "see" the wonders of our world.

Janet has been teaching theology and giving retreats for many years. Presently her major focus is spiritual direction in a directed retreat setting.

In beautiful watercolors, Therese allows us to share in her appreciation of the wonders of God's creation. She brings us a range of subjects that is as wide as all outdoors.

Margaret has served as a nurse, worked with the poor in the inner city of Philadelphia and been a vital part of The Franciscan Center in Tampa. Her gift of poetry expresses her deep reverence of God.

Anne Martin has been an Allegany Franciscan for 56 years, 42 of those years were spent as a missionary in Jamaica, W. I. She was introduced to Mandalas at Berakah and found that drawing Mandalas deepens her prayer life.
